Office renovation series - part 2

Well it's been a couple weeks and things are moving along with the office renovations. With the craziness of Christmas it's been hard to find time to work on the new office let alone blog about it... But here we are to give you an update!
Last time we checked in we had just decided to renovate a new office space and were just in planning stages of the whole process. Since then we've picked the flooring, moved all the furniture out of the room and begun ripping out the old ratty carpet.
In case you forget, this is what the room started out looking like:

Picking the flooring

It tools us a long time to decide on flooring. The carpet that was in there had definitely seen better days and we figured if we were going to use the space as an office carpet wasn't ideal. Its hard to move around on rolling chairs, furniture sinks into carpet and becomes unstable and its just not as clean of a finish as we wanted. After weighing the pros and cons of other flooring options we decided to go with laminate.

We looked and looked and made lists and took pictures and compared and looked some more. Here is a picture of our potential choices:

After hours of looking at flooring we finally decided on a beautiful redish laminate flooring.

Moving all the furniture out and tearing up the floor

We managed to find some strapping young men to put their muscles to good use and empty the room of all the furniture. We could then start ripping up the carpet Which proved to be the easy part. We then started the long task of pulling out all the staples so we had a nice even surface to lay the laminate on. Below is a picture of the room partly torn up.

Things to do

So we have gotten a good start but there are still lots of things to get done for our new digs made just for us. <3

- (check!) move out all the furniture
- (check!) tear up existing floor
- install new flooring
- talk dad/husband into the necessity of a bench in the bay window???
- finalize office layout
- purchase new furniture
- build new furniture
- build new organizational board (so excited for this one!)
- put all the new and old furniture into the new beautiful office
- hang all wall accessories
- revel in the glory of a job well done!

  1. Hello, I have browsed most of your posts. This post is probably where I got the most useful information for my research. Thanks for posting, maybe we can see more on this. Are you aware of any other websites on this subject.
